No accurate count of the number of lifts made by the drydock has been preserved, but public records and a diary kept by a longtime dock worker, D.B.B. Barritt, suggest
that by the end of its 37-year career the drydock had serviced at least 75 vessels.
With the ever increasing sizes naval vessels the need for a larger facility was recognized by 1900. The drydock was eventually replaced in 1905.
