MAHS INVESTIGATIONS IN ANGUILLA
|
|
Additional debris was discovered several thousand meters from the wreck of El Buen Consejo. Intermixed
with wreckage from a 19th-century vessel were several heavily worn cannon, believed to be all that remains of
of the second Spanish ship, Jesus, Maria y Jose.

A formal report detailing the archaeological investigation and findings at the site has been published by East
Carolina University. It is entitled The 1996 Anguilla Shipwreck Survey (B.A. Rogers, F. Cantelas, J. Bowdoin,
R. Hayes, L. Hermley, and L. Lentz. ECU Research Report #15, 2006).
|

In addition, at least two graduate theses at ECU have also been derived from these studies. Further background information
be found in Shipwrecks of Anguilla, by D. Berglund, Creole Publishing Co., Anguilla, 1995.
