Late in November of 1703, a massive storm struck the British Isles. Known historically
as the Great Storm of 1703, it has been reckoned one of the worst storms ever in Britain. It lasted a week with
winds reportedly reaching 120 mph. Whole forests were destroyed and over 8,000 people are thought to have
lost their lives.
